Privacy Policy

Who we are

GameDB.ai (“GameDB”, “we”, “us”) is the AI game database at gamedb.ai. We decide how the personal data described here is used and are responsible for it. You can reach us through the contact page or at hello@gamedb.ai.

What we collect

• When you visit. Our hosting and security providers process your IP address, browser details and the pages you ask for, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, for example by limiting how many requests one address can make. Game images and trailers load from Steam’s servers, so Valve receives those requests, as with any image on the web.
• Analytics. Google Analytics tells us which pages are visited and what gets used: clicks on games, Steam links and share buttons, searches, trailers, stars, sign-ins, claims and messages sent (the topic, never what you wrote), plus your device, browser and approximate location. Google doesn’t store IP addresses. It sets cookies to recognise returning visitors: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland only if you allow them in the cookie banner, and otherwise it works without cookies. You can change your answer under Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. When you’re signed in it also gets your account’s random ID, never your name or email. There’s no advertising use.
• If you sign in with Steam. Your Steam ID, confirmed by Steam, and your public Steam name and avatar. We never see your Steam password.
• If you sign in with email. Your email address. We email you a one-time code; there are no passwords.
• Your account. The name you choose on GameDB, when you joined and last signed in, and sign-in records, such as the time and IP address, that our sign-in provider keeps for security.
• Stars. The games you star. How many stars a game has is public; who gave them is not.
• Claims and developer pages. When you claim a game: the work email, your role and anything you send as proof or as a statement. Codes that confirm an email address are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. What you write on your game’s page is public.
• Messages. What you send through the contact form, the address you want our answer at and the account that sent it, and any emails you send us.
• On your device. Cookies that keep you signed in, Google Analytics cookies (in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland only if you allow them), and browser storage that remembers your theme, your cookie choice and, for a moment, something you started before signing in, like a star or a message.

Public data about games

GameDB lists games from their public Steam store pages: names, developers and publishers, store details, links and the AI disclosure. Developers and publishers are usually studios, but some are people. If something about you is wrong, or you’d like it removed, contact us.

How we use it

• To sign you in and keep your stars, claims and pages.
• To check claims and show which games are verified.
• To email you sign-in codes, codes that confirm a work email, and our decisions on your claims.
• To answer your messages.
• To keep GameDB secure and fair: request limits, stopping spam and abuse, and suspending accounts that break our Terms.
• To count stars for Community picks, where only totals are shown.
• To see how GameDB is used, through Google Analytics, and make it better.

We don’t sell your personal data or use it for advertising, and we don’t send marketing email.

If you’re in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom: we use your data to provide what you asked for (your account, claims and messages), for our legitimate interest in keeping GameDB secure, reliable and fair (security, abuse prevention and checking claims) and in measuring how it’s used, and where the law requires it. Analytics cookies are set only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time under Cookie settings.

Who we share it with

Only with the services GameDB runs on, and only what each of them needs:

• Supabase: database and sign-in.
• Vercel: hosting and delivering the site.
• Resend: sending our emails.
• Google Workspace: our mailbox, where your messages arrive.
• Google Analytics: statistics about how the site is used.
• Cloudflare: the check that you’re a person, when we ask for one before emailing a sign-in code.
• Steam (Valve): signing in with Steam, and game images and trailers.

They handle the data under their own security and privacy commitments. We may also disclose data when the law requires it, or to protect GameDB and its users from fraud and abuse. If GameDB is ever sold or merged, your data would move to the new owner under this policy.

Where it’s kept, and for how long

Our providers store data mainly in the United States. When data leaves your country, we rely on their safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

• Your account, stars, claims and form messages stay until you delete your account, or until you ask us to delete them.
• What you wrote on a game’s page stays with the game when you delete your account. Ask us if you’d like it removed.
• Server logs and sign-in records are kept for a limited time, for security.
• Analytics data about individual visits is kept by Google Analytics for at most 14 months; totals, like visits per day, stay.
• Backups may hold deleted data for a few more days, until they’re replaced.
• Emails you send us stay in our mailbox as long as we need them to help you.

Your rights and choices

• See, correct or get a copy of your data. Most of it is on your account page; ask us for the rest.
• Delete your account at any time in your account settings. Your account, stars, claims and form messages go with it.
• Object, or ask us to limit how we use your data. We’ll stop unless we have to keep it, for example to prevent abuse.
• Turn off analytics cookies under Cookie settings at the bottom of any page, or turn Google Analytics off completely with Google’s opt-out add-on or by blocking trackers in your browser.

Write to us at hello@gamedb.ai; we answer within 30 days. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have similar rights to know, correct and delete your data. We don’t sell or share personal information for targeted advertising.

Children

GameDB isn’t made for children. You need to be at least 13 to create an account, or older where the law of your country requires it (16 in some EU countries). If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

Everything travels over HTTPS, the database answers only after checking who is asking, signing in needs no password (so there’s none to leak), and verification codes are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure: if you find a problem, please tell us at hello@gamedb.ai.

Changes to this policy

When our practices change, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we’ll say so on the site or by email before it takes effect.
