*ERROR* is a game developed entirely by me as an independent developer. I have a full-time job as a game designer, so this project has been built little by little, mostly during my spare time outside of work.
I know that many players have concerns about AI-generated content—especially whether characters can remain consistent, whether the story and emotional experience still reflect a clear creative vision, and whether the final game is simply made up of unfiltered model outputs. Because of that, I want to be as transparent as possible about how AI is used in *ERROR*.
As a solo developer, I make extensive use of generative AI tools to handle work that would traditionally require multiple specialized roles, including programming, art, animation, voice acting, and writing. **Some character artwork and visual assets, animations, voice performances, written content, and code implementation were created with the assistance of AI tools.**
However, AI outputs do not go directly into the final game.
Everything that actually appears in the game goes through my own selection, editing, combination, adjustment, and in-game testing. The gameplay design, systems, level design, balance, character direction, narrative structure, and ultimately the creative decisions about what kind of experience I want to give players are all my own.
*ERROR* **does not contain any real-time AI-generated content**. The characters, story, voices, animations, and other content you experience in the game are all pre-generated, edited, tested, and shipped as fixed content with the game.
For me, AI cannot decide what this game should be. Instead, it has given me the ability to cross the professional barriers between programming, art, animation, audio, and writing on my own—and to turn ideas that might otherwise have remained only in my head into an actual game.
Ultimately, whether *ERROR* is fun to play, whether its characters are compelling, and whether its story is emotionally engaging are still things I am responsible for.
If you decide to give *ERROR* a try, I would be very grateful.
And I would genuinely appreciate hearing what you think I did well, and what I could still do better.
